Sembalun is one of the districts in East Lombok district, which is
under the area of Mount Rinjani National Park. Located at an altitude
of 1,156 meters above sea level, making the air in this region really
is cool.
Sembalun
Lawang village is a favorite cool-temperate as a starting
point for making a climber climbing can save energy and time to reach
the summit of Mount Rinjani. On the way to the village is about 4 hours
from the city of Mataram, you will be presented with a view of the
green nature

Sembalun are narrow and tricky as it's near cliff and have so many sharp
corners. You have to be careful when passing these roads.

fields, and even turbulent sea Gili Trawangan from a distance. Farm
fields spread out nicely, planted vegetables betingkat – level. Rustic
feel of thick felt, especially when local farmers doing their
activities with the traditional way.
On arrival at the village Sembalun, other landscapes are already
waiting to be admired. In addition to the green by trees and vegetation
of the mountains, the village is almost surrounded by magnificent rock
cliffs that slope is almost reaching 90 degrees. The stone wall is the
result of freezing material or lava eruption of Mount Rinjani spewed
hundreds of years ago. In some parts, it appears moss and rocks lining
the grass adds to the charm of her beauty. Fresh mountain air will
fill your lungs. It’s shades and exotic tropical landscapes and
memorable.
As
you can see, all of the farm fields have different kind of seeds to be
planted. Local farmers mostly plant rices and corns, but also
strawberries and tomatoes. It's very pleasing to see.
You
also can harvest them by yourself by just paying a few Rupiahs (for
strawberries is commonly Rp 4000/pack). Harvesting strawberries has
become popular because strawberry it self is a unique fruit and
cute-kind-of-a-girly-fruit, and many of the tourist post their
activities on social media and share it with many people. So it is
always crowded when you visit a harvesting place, especially during
holidays.
In
addition to keeping the charm and beauty of natural scenery, there is
an entrance to begin climbing Mount Rinjani, which is known as second highest volcano in Indonesia. Sembalun Lawang village
has an important role as a haven and recharge before challenge yourself
to conquer Mount Rinjani.
In this village there are also post Rinjani Information Center ( RIC )
Sembalun, the center is also a place of information and registration
for the climbers. Accommodation and homestay also numerous in this
village. In addition, reliable porter who can double as a chef ready
to take to the summit of Rinjani or to Lake Segara Anak. They are also
known for having good physical strength .
